Series presents performance of complete Beethoven Trios

Trio2013_by DanielAshworthThe University’s Secrest Artist Series will host musicians David Finckel, Philip Setzer and Wu Han in a performance of the complete Beethoven Trios in a two-night special event on February 17 and 18 in Brendle Recital Hall.

Cellist David Finckel, violinist Philip Setzer and pianist Wu Han are renowned as one of the world’s finest piano trios. Finckel spent more than 30 years with the famed Emerson String Quartet, Setzer is a founding member of the Emerson, and Han has an outstanding career as an orchestral soloist and chamber player.

The Secrest Signature Pre-Concert talk will begin at 6:40 p.m. before each performance, focusing on the music of that night. Both Pre-Concert talks will be given by Associate Dean and Professor of Music David Levy. His recent research has focused on the “late” Beethoven quartets and he is working on a book on the symphonies of Beethoven.

Wake Forest faculty, staff and retirees receive free admission for themselves and one guest. Students receive free admission for themselves. Simply show your WFU I.D. at the door.
