Locklair’s music to premiere in Durham

The world premiere of Dan Locklair’s Bond and Free, a Partsong for SATB Chorus (divisi), a cappella, will be given by the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Durham, Rodney Wynkoop, Conductor and Artistic Director, on Sunday, June 9, at 4 p.m. at Duke Chapel, 401 Chapel Drive. This will be part of the Ensemble’s “There Will Be Rest” concert.

Locklair, who is a professor of music and the composer-in-residence at Wake Forest, said: “My Bond and Free was completed in early April 2012. It is dedicated to the outstanding American choral musician, Rodney Wynkoop. … Approximately four minutes in length, Bond and Free takes its title from the Robert Frost poem by the same name.” Locklair’s complete notes are available here.
